Roatan's north shore - miles of white sand beaches - all for you.

What do our guests say?

"I visited Roatan for the first time two weeks ago. I stayed in the Palmetto Bay resort (which I will review separately) and stayed in the Bay Breeze Bungalow. It was absolutely beautiful. This home is located on the beach, nestled among mango, cashew and palm trees. There is a beautiful view of the ocean from the large sliding living room screened door. The east sliding door provides even more stunning views down the beach and out to the ocean. The owners have recently remodeled the home and have taken great care to make the home your "home away from home." There is clearly attention to every detail. The beds are very comfortable and the deck provides a wonderful location to kick back, relax and read a book. Bay Breeze Bungalow is located on the North shore of Roatan and rmoved from the hustle and bustle of the cruise port and more populated West End and West Bay. This is appealing for those, like us, that are looking for a tropical vacation but without all the crowds."

Everything You Need to Know

What to Bring

  1. Sunscreen
  2. Bugspray
  3. Sunglasses & Hat
  4. Water Shoes
  5. Music - We have a SONOS music system. Download the SONOS app onto your smartphone or tablet before you come down so you can play your own music.

  1. Airlines - American, Delta & United Airlines fly directly from Miami, Atlanta & Houston to Roatan (RTB). Sunwing flies from Canada.
  2. Passports - All travelers will need a passport valid for at least 90 days past your departure date from Honduras. Honduras tourist visa is not required for a stay of up to 90 days.
  3. Customs - You'll deplane outside & make your way into the airport to clear customs. You are allowed to bring 2 bottles of alcoholic beverages.
  4. Greeting & Transportation to Palmetto - Heather will meet you at the airport, take you to the grocery store, and transport you to Bay Breeze Bungalow!
  5. Rental Car - You don't absolutely need one, but most people get one so they can explore the island and go out for groceries or restaurants.

In & Around the House

  1. Supplies - We are fully stocked with soap, shampoo, hair dryer, cleaning supplies, towels, etc. Personal toiletries are not stocked.
  2. Cell Phone - Upon arrival, Heather will provide you with a cell phone that can be used for local calls. Her number is on speed dial so you can reach her at any time.
  3. Internet/Cable TV- Unlimited internet is available via WiFi in the house. The speed, however, is not fast enough to support streaming movies. We now have cable TV & provide a DVD player, so bring along your favorites, if you like.
  4. Water - We have a whole-house water filtration & purification system.
  5. Paddleboards - 2 provided
  6. Kayak rental available
  7. Electricity on Roatan is very expensive so we respectfully ask you to conserve energy whenever possible. Power outages occur from time-to-time. Flashlights are provided.
  8. A/C - Air conditioning is provided in each of the 3 bedrooms & meant to be used at night if needed for your comfort. Given the open air architecture of our bungalow, running the a/c during the day is not effective & is very expensive.
  9. Cleaning Services - midstay cleaning is not provided
  10. Swimming - Due to the shallow water at the beach & the prevalence of turtle grass (part of the reef ecosystem), there is a private dock and floating platform for swimming.
  11. Safety & Security - Use common sense. We suggest locking the bungalow whenever you leave, and don't leave valuables out and about when you're on the beach.

  1. Kitchen - We love to cook! The kitchen is well outfitted and includes a gas grill (on the deck), 4-burner gas stovetop, microwave oven, countertop convection oven, coffee maker, toaster, and full size refrigerator with ice maker. Food pantry items are not stocked.
  2. Grocery Stores - Eldon's is a full service store. Snappers has a wide selection of fresh, local seafood. And there is a nice vegetable stand in French Harbor.
  3. Restuarants - Temporary Cal's (great location & lobster), Ooloonthoo (our favorite Indian restaurant anywhere), Roatan Oasis (great drinks, nice setting & very good food), Pineapple Grill

Around the Island

  1. Currency - You can easily spend dollars or Lempiras on Roatan. Cash is really king on the island & you can get it from cash machines at the airport & grocery store.
  2. Tipping - Tipping is optional but most service staff make very low wages, so we recommend tipping as you would in the U.S. It is also customary to tip your hosts.
  3. How You Can Be Reached - You will be able to get reception on your personal cell phone. You can also give Heather's phone number to family members to be used in case of emergency.
